Public Open House Events - February 2020

Hampton Roads Transit announces two open house events held to inform the public about HRT’s Naval Station Norfolk Transit Corridor (NSNTC) Project and receive input from the community.

The NSNTC Project will evaluate future high-capacity transit services for Norfolk’s east side. The project will consider two different transit technologies – Bus Rapid Transit and Light Rail. The open house events provide an opportunity for the public to view the history of the project and the purpose and need for the project, which looks to address the transportation challenge and potential solutions. The public will also review and provide feedback on a preliminary set of potential alignments.

Public input is integral to the project and the two open house events will be the first of many opportunities over the next eighteen months for public comment.

  • The first open house will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19th, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Marriott Delta Hotel, 1570 N. Military Hwy, Norfolk, VA 23502.

  • The second open house will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20th, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Pretlow Branch of the Norfolk Public Library in Oceanview, 111 W. Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA 23503.

  • The public is encouraged to attend either or both events, to ask questions and provide input on the project.

  • The Delta Hotel is served by local routes 15 and 23, while the Pretlow library is served by routes 1,3 and 5.

The purpose of this transit connection is to increase mobility choices, improve access among activity centers and neighborhoods, and help meet the region’s need for a time-competitive, flood-resilient, sustainable and cost-effective alternative to automobiles.

In addition to attending the public meeting, the public can also provide comments via a short survey or send a message to the project team, by exploring this very website.
